EWB Phoenix
EWB PHX was founded in 2006 by three former officers from the EWB ASU student chapter that had recently graduated and were looking to extend their work to the professional community. Their overriding goal in forming the professional chapter was to be dedicated to doing. As opposed to many extremely valuable trade organizations that work to further a profession, EWB PHX is built on the concept that if you aren’t doing anything, then you aren’t helping. We are a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, teachers, builders, and other professionals, working hand and hand with communities. We help them improve their quality of life and their access to basic necessities like clean water and shelter.

Who We Are
MEMBERSHIP
Don’t let the name, Engineers Without Borders, fool you! We are not just engineers or any one discipline of engineering. There is far more that goes into any one project, or the running of the chapter, than just engineering. Engineering, Education, Health & Welfare, Construction, Logistics, Environmental Sciences, Sociology, and Project Management are just a few of the fields that are essential for a smooth running chapter. Join us and help those that really need a helping hand!
STRUCTURE
We are governed by an elected Executive Committee that operates on 1 year terms, except for Project Leads (term length equal to project duration) and committees, where people can plug in and help out on a continuous basis.
What We Do
In the pursuit of fulfilling our mission, we partner with communities around the world on a variety of projects. Our members commit however much time they can or want to towards the successful completion of these projects. How much time you put in to it is up to you. Some memebers choose to participate primarily on project teams working on specific solutions for our partner communities, while others find satisfaction working on committees such as Public Relations, Membership, Fundraising, or Local Activities. Still others perform one of the essential officer roles. We also raise funds as a team, so that those that are willing and able can travel to the communities they help, limiting, if not eliminating, the need for hardworking members to come out of pocket for travel expenses.
