Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get involved?
First – give us your name and email so we can keep you posted on meetings and events (we really limit the number of emails so yo udon’t get flooded).
Second – Check out our calendar for a general meeting or feel free to send an email or drop a line to any our Membership Chair from the Contact Us page. Our general meetings are usually the best way to get an overview of what we are all about, meet other professionals looking to possibly join up and talk to the current members. However, if there is a particular committee you know you are interested in feel free to drop in – everyone is always welcome!
I’m not sure there is a place for me in EWB?
I seriously doubt that. There are so many ways to get involved it really doesn’t matter what your profession is, there are a number of ways for you to get involved. If nothing jumps out at you, please drop us a line and we would be happy to explain more about the organization and discuss ways for you to participate. And remember, you’re not signing a contract here. You are welcome and encouraged to check out a couple different committees and see what fits.
I can’t afford to pay to travel to all these places or get the time off work, how can I help?
That’s okay. First of all, we don’t ask our members to pay out of pocket for anything. Donations are always welcome and accepted from anyone, but we realize that it just isn’t feasible for most people to cover costs out of pocket. We ask that all members help with the fundraising efforts, even if it is just showing up to the events, and then use those and other funds (grants, etc.) to fund our projects and operations.
No time to travel? That’s okay too. There is no end to the work that needs to be done here in the States. From local projects, to outreach, to planning for upcoming trips, to fundraising, to Public Relations, to general chapter administration, there are a lot of integral roles to be filled without leaving the state.
I don’t have a lot of time, but want to help, is there a way?
Absolutely. Your contribution may come in the form of staying tuned in and attending fundraising events or taking a small part on a committee that requires one-time only or a very small ongoing commitment. We are all busy and each have a different amount of time to donate, but we can assure you that however much you put in comes back ten fold.
I have a project in mind, are you taking on new ones?
The short answer is that it depends. We operate under the umbrella of EWB-USA and are subject to certain operating policies and procedures. Available volunteers, funding, and logistical ability also play into our ability to take on new projects, but we are always interested in hearing about new opportunities, so feel free to get in touch with us. If we can’t help directly, we can most likely point you in the direction of another chapter or organization that can.
